Parallel Time

Parallel Time

June 4 – June 16
Video Installation by Maureen Catbagan
Films and our memories move the past and the present with such fluidity that we take for granted the structure of the moment. Time’s rigid linearity dissolves as we re/live the past while existing in the present. Despite the current unfeasibility of actual time travel, we experience its multiplicity through our mental and visual editing. Parallel Time creates a fissure, a physical time pocket in the middle of New York – a city in constant flux. A transitional space forms between image and reality. The past runs parallel to the present like a disjointed mirror. Through the gallery window, the viewer faces both his reflection and his absence the week before.
