Sunset with Lily!

Sunset with Lily!

On November 8th the city of New York was invited to the Lab Gallery, at exactly 5:13pm, to watch the sunset. Timed to coincide with the actual sunset that day, artist Lily Mcelroy had converted the gallery into a paper mache landscape complete with trees, hills, clouds and of course the sun, which hung from a rope leading back to a launchair. On the chair was a three dimmer lighting board. As she paid out the rope attached to the sun, she manipulated the dimmers to change the quality and colors of the light reflecting off the sun. The New York City crowds were served hot cider and cake as they stood outside and watched the “Sunset with Lily.”
